✨🏆Spotlight on Past Club Champions 🏆✨

Mr Keith Pix won his first Royal Fremantle Club Championship in 1935 at the age 17. He won the state Junior Championship in 1937 & 1938 and at the time played off a handicap of +1.

Pix’s golf was put on hold in 1939 due to the war and he enlisted in the army and served in New Guinea. Keith returned to golf post WW2 in great form and won the State Open and Amateur Championships when he returned in 1946. He won his 3rd and final Club Championships at RFGC in 1947, which was in the same year represented Australia on the national team. He then moved to NSW where he continued to play outstanding golf. In 1951 he held the amateur title in three states; WA, SA, & NSW.

As you can imagine, it wasn’t so common to have your Pix (😉) taken back in those days so we have a newspaper snippet from August 1954.

✨🏆Spotlight on Past Club Champions: Dennis Bell🏆✨

Mr. Dennis Bell won his first Club Championship in 1956 at the age of 16.

He went on to dominate golf in WA through the 1960’s and in 1961, he held a handicap of +4, the lowest in Australia at the time; with that earning many accolades.

He set a new course record of 66, winning the inaugural Anzac Shield in 1961.
He was the winner of the first Royal Fremantle Open Championship, held in Oct 1965, the State Junior Championship in 1960, the State Amateur Championship in 1960, 1961, 1966, and 1970, along with the State Open Championship in 1961, 1963, and 1966.

Dennis spent 19 years playing for the WA State team and 11 years as the Captain of the team, further to this Dennis represented Australia on seven occasions. After his first Club Championship win, Dennis went on to win a further 12 with his last being in 1985.

Dennis was integral to the success of our Pennant teams as both a player and a coach, with a Pennant career spanning 41 years! In 2017 Dennis was recognised by being inducted into the WA Golf Industry Hall of Fame. Dennis Bell was awarded life membership of Royal Fremantle Golf Club in 2001.
