We had a special visitor at the Club yesterday, former England cricket star Gladstone Small!
A fan favourite from the 1986-87 Ashes and a brilliant storyteller, Gladstone brought plenty charm and good humour to Royal Fremantle.
Always a treat when sporting greats stop by, welcome Gladstone!
From junior prodigy to one of Royal Fremantle’s most decorated women players, Sarah Terrell continues to add to her remarkable golfing story.
A former Club Champion (1995), long-standing Division 1 pennant player, and multi-time tournament winner, Sarah was named WA Junior Golfer of the Year in 1994, represented WA in 1996, and helped Australia secure the 1995 Junior Tasman Cup — a moment she still treasures:
“Representing Australia in the Tasman Cup was a real highlight… it was close, but we got the win, and it’s something I still look back on with great pride.”
Her recent form is just as impressive, adding the Anniversary Cup (2022 & 2025), three straight Club Foursomes titles with Jaks Scott (2023–2025), and now the Australian Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship in South Australia to her list of achievements.
A true Royal Fremantle standout — past, present, and proudly continuing her legacy.

🏆 Spotlight on Past Club Champions - Nick Piani
Since his Club Championship win in 2024, Nick Piani has enjoyed the rare honour of teeing it up in the Webex Players Series at Royal Fremantle and is now gearing up to defend his title in a couple weeks.
Winning at Royal Fremantle was especially meaningful for Nick, having also claimed the WA State Amateur here in 2001.
“To have my name on the honour board alongside players like Dennis Bell, Greg Chalmers, Glenn Carbon and Min Woo Lee meant a lot. Royal Fremantle has such a strong history — it reminds me why I love the game.”

🏆 Spotlight on Past Club Champion: Paul Mews
Paul Mews dominated the junior ranks at Royal Fremantle, winning seven consecutive Junior Club Championships from 2001 to 2007, before adding four Men’s Club Championships in 2002, 2006, 2007 and 2015. A long-time pennant representative and former Pennant Player of the Year, his best round at Royal Fremantle, a 63 remains a standout score in recent Club history.
@paul.mews.31 went on to win the Australian Long Drive Championship in 2021 and 2023, later representing Australia at the 2024 World Long Drive Championship in the United States. He is now the founder of @elite_fitness_golf_performance, coaching golfers worldwide through his golf-fitness programs.
