Spotlight on Past Club Champions: Greg Chalmers
Greg Chalmers first made his mark at Royal Fremantle Golf Club as a junior, capturing both the Junior Championship (1989, 1992) and the Royal Fremantle Open (1989) while still in that age category. He went on to claim his first and only Club Championship in 1989, announcing himself among the Club’s elite.
As an amateur, Greg’s talent quickly gained national and international recognition. He won the Australian Amateur Championship in 1993 and the French Amateur Championship in 1994 before turning professional in 1995.
His professional career has been nothing short of distinguished. Greg twice claimed the Australian Open (1998 and 2011), along with victories at the Australian PGA Championship (2011, 2014) and the Australian Masters (2004), solidifying his reputation as one of Australia’s finest modern players. On the world stage, he achieved his first @pgatour victory at the 2016 Barracuda Championship, capping a remarkable journey that began at Royal Fremantle.
Today, Greg continues to compete on the @pgatourchampions and remains deeply involved in the game through coaching, media work, and charitable initiatives supporting autism awareness. His enduring passion, professionalism, and humility make him not only a champion golfer but an outstanding ambassador for Royal Fremantle Golf Club.
