Changes to the Course – 15th & 14th Alternate Tee
Published on 23rd April 2026Since its opening in 2021, the 15th Alternate tee has been widely regarded as one of the best tee boxes on the course. Not only are the surrounds exceptionally well presented, but the elevated outlook from the alternate tee provides a noticeably superior visual aspect of the hole when compared to the existing 15th primary tee.
At the December Golf Committee meeting, a member of the committee presented a paper on outlining several reasons for why the 15th Alternate tee should be adopted as the primary tee box. The committee was of the opinion that not only was the alternate tee box more visually appealing, but that it also gave a variety of play options for members of all levels and that it would be a true “short” par 4, which the course currently does not have.
Following discussion, the Committee unanimously agreed that the proposal should be formally submitted to the Board for consideration.
At the same meeting, the Committee also considered the status of the 14th Alternate tee. This tee was originally brought into play due to a miscommunication at the time of the alternate course rating in 2021, noting the effort in having the course rated, it was agreed that the tee box would remain in use during alternate course weeks. Given that the adoption of the 15th Alternate tee as the primary tee would necessitate a re-rating of both the GA course and the Alternate course, the Committee unanimously agreed that the removal of the 14th Alternate tee from play should also be presented to the Board as part of the same proposal.
Following endorsement from the Board, Golf Operations have worked with Golf WA to update the ratings of both the GA Course and Alternate course to reflect changes. Commencing the 11th of May, the “new” GA course will be in play, with the first week of the “new” alternate course being the week of the 25th of May.
