R&A Women Golf Charter – RFGC has now become a signatory!
Published on 9th June 2025
Golf Australia (GA) has committed to the R&A’s Women in Golf Chart, which aims to enable more women and girls to maximise their potential at all levels of the sport. GA is has been encouraging all Australian golf clubs and facilities to become signatories of the R&A Women in Golf Charter, publicly stating their commitment to improving the sport for women and girls and I am pleased to advise that RFGC has now become a signatory!
Becoming a signatory to the charter aligns with the Clubs strategic objective to grow membership in a sustainable way, with a particular focus on increasing and integrating female membership.
Pleasingly, the work previously done to amend our Constitution and remove gender based categories, the inclusion of female representatives on our Board, and the introduction of championships being scheduled to allow working women to participate meant that becoming a signatory was relatively easy!
Over the next 12 months our operating team will work through an Action Plan, designed to assist us in not only growing female membership, but in promoting female representation on our Board, Committee’s and within our working groups.
We have committed, by becoming a signatory, to GA’s Leadership Statement, as outlined below:
Golf Australia’s Women and Girls’ Engagement Plan: The Future of Women & Girls in Golf aims to ensure that golf is a sport where women and girls are inspired to participate, feel welcomed and nurtured throughout, and empowered to achieve their goals.
The Women and Girls’ Engagement Plan is playing a critical role in increasing leadership & participation in golf in Australia through five key areas of the game, that align to Australian Golf’s National Strategy:
- Telling our story better
- Attracting new Golfers
- Increasing our Core
- Attracting New Fans and Growing Revenue
- Working together
The Royal Fremantle Golf Club acknowledges the important role community golf clubs will play in transforming our sport into one that is highly engaging, accessible, and fully inclusive for women and girls.
Royal Fremantle Golf Club officially supports Golf Australia’s Women and Girl’s Engagement Plan and commits to participating in national initiatives designed to increase the engagement of women and girls in golf.
With female members currently only representing 18% of our total membership, this key initiative is an important one for the Club for the future. We hope that becoming a signatory will assist us in promoting the benefits of Club membership at Royal Fremantle to all!
